Disney has unveiled a new gaming initiative called ‘Disney Infinity‘ that pairs collectible toy figures with a video game. Gamers can create stories by building their own worlds and play through original adventures starring popular Disney and Pixar characters. John Pleasants, co-president of Disney Interactive, said:

Disney Infinity introduces a new way to interact with the best of Disney on one game platform, both now and in the future. With this innovative approach to gaming, Disney Infinity will bring to life new characters, stories and environments from The Walt Disney Company over time in a way that will delight fans and gamers alike.

Disney Gaming System Pairs Collectible Toys With Video For Immersive Experience

Disney Infinity integrates collectible character figures that come to life in the game and can play together in a virtual “Toy Box.” Throughout each story-driven experience, called a “Play Set,” players solve puzzles, battle enemies, and explore iconic locations while collecting unique characters, vehicles, and gadgets from each world. Players can then access their “Toy Box” to build and customize their own unique virtual world using their favorites.

The Disney Infinity platform will initially include 40 collectible interactive pieces, 17 character figures, and power discs, which can be used to customize characters and give them unique powers. These real-world items are placed on a special Infinity Base device to unlock different experiences in the game. Disney Infinity will launch this June for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, PC, and mobile devices. Check out the announcement trailer below:
