Facebook has announced a new way to navigate your connections on the social network. Graph Search enables you to find friends who live in a certain town, friends who have certain interests, photos of specific destinations, or even restaurants in particular cities.
It’s aim is to take the site back to it’s roots by helping people to make new connections. Graph Search appears as a bigger search bar at the top of each page and you can combine phrases to find content that has been shared on Facebook.
This initial version focuses on four main areas: people, photos, places, and interests. So you can search for things like “people from my hometown who like hiking,” “people who like tennis and live nearby,” “photos of my friends before 1999,” “photos of my friends taken in New York,” “tourist attractions in Italy visited by my friends,” “restaurants in New York liked by chefs,” “strategy games played by friends of my friends,” and “movies liked by people who are film directors.”
Graph Search is currently in beta, which means it is only available to a small number of people who use Facebook in U.S. English. You can sign up for the waitlist here.
