Instead of ready-to-wear, these designer pieces are ‘ready-to-cut.’
Instead of hiring regular (human) models to showcase their Spring/Summer 2013 collection, Louis Vuitton created paper dolls to do the job. Fans can mix and match 20 items from the new collection and classic ‘ready-to-wear icons’ on four different dolls. Fashion illustrator Kerrie Hess worked with stylist Kim Hersov to create the looks for the dolls, which are meant to show fans how they can incorporate pieces from both current and past seasons into their outfit choices.
Hess and Hersov created a distinctive personality for each doll, ranging from a girl ready for a casual day adventure to a glam shopper. Fans are encouraged to download the dolls (available here) and share their own unique creations with the brand on Twitter with #LVMixMatch. Louis Vuitton will pick their favorites and display the ‘outfits’ on Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.
While the designs of the dolls don’t necessarily lend themselves to be the most durable or practical, the idea cleverly lets anyone interested in the new collection to ‘try pieces on,’ extending the reach of the collection beyond the typical Louis Vuitton consumer.
