Critical Mob, a discovery site that curates, selects, and reviews the best in culture, discusses this week’s top musical picks; The Flaming Lips will be releasing their 15th studio album, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are releasing a new album, Tom Waits to release a photo collaboration with Anton Corbijn, and CBGB filmmakers are already working on the upcoming Caribou Ranch film.
Flaming Lips will be releasing their 15th studio album, tentatively titled The Terror, sometime this fall. Calling it ‘possibly the best Flaming Lips record ever made.’
As if the fact that Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are releasing a new album next month isn’t amazing enough, the band has also announced a couple of special events to celebrate the release.
The second Wednesday in May sees the limited release of Waits/Corbijn ’77-’11, a collector’s edition photo book which features over 200 pages of portraits of Tom Waits as photographed by Dutch visual master Anton Corbijn.
Filmmakers Randall Miller and Jody Savin are currently wrapping up production on their punk rock feature film CBGB, which takes a look at the establishment of the Country, Bluegrass, and Blues venue and its evolution into the birthplace of American punk and rock. Although the feature film has yet to have a concrete release date, the filmmaking duo have announced their next project: the story of the iconic Caribou Ranch.
