Pirated Zaha Hadid Building Design Pops Up In China [Pics]
A firm plans to replicate the architect's current project, the Wangjing SOHO, in another part of China.
Renowned architect Zaha Hadid currently has several projects being commissioned in China. One of them is the Wangjing SOHO in Beijing, a stunning architecture consisting of three curved towers that will be used as an office and retail complex. The design is so popular, that another architecture firm in China is planning to replicate it in Chongqing.
According to reports, the pirated building might even be completed before the original. Now, Hadid is being rushed to finish the Wangjing SOHO before the ‘fake’ one is built.
Satoshi Ohashi, project director for the Wangjing SOHO, commented that:
It is possible that the Chongqing pirates got hold of some digital files or renderings of the project. [From these] you could work out a similar building if you are technically very capable, but this would only be a rough simulation of the architecture.
Hadid’s SOHO complex is scheduled to be completed in 2014. See some of the concept mockups of the building below:
