The Future Of Work

In order to bring to life PSFK’s Future of Work reportPSFK Labs challenged creative agencies from around the world to generate product and service concepts that leverage the trends identified within the report.

Employees and entrepreneurs can use ProPath as a tool for navigating complex career choices via a website or mobile app. It allows users to set career goals and track their progress, navigating their career from intern to executive, including changes along the way.

Players can plot a course on a visually-oriented map to see what their current status is against future goals or to experiment with alternate paths, manipulating them for desired outcomes. They are also encouraged to collect career-enhancing badges and to “level up” as a means of gaining valuable professional experience. ProPath uniquely draws from current trends, such as job and compensation growth, industry forecasts and geo-data, to help make informed decisions every step of the way. Data feeds come from hiring sources like Monster. com, Behance, general news sites and local/federal government agencies. It also pulls in Twitter feeds of industry-relevant companies and people.

Since ProPath acts as an aggregator of job data, it also provides users with valuable decision-making information. For example, Zappos’ recent initiative to revitalize downtown Las Vegas could highlight emerging opportunities on both a geographic map and on an individual’s career Path (their roadmap). Further, users can specify career goals based on desired compensation, company ranking, quality of life or skill sets.

One of the noteworthy propositions of ProPath is that it allows users to input and track specific career-boosting activities like education and professional memberships. For example, a law associate may take night classes or volunteer with Legal Aid. These activities would “count” along his or her ProPath and could be referenced when looking for pay raises or a new company/position.

User profiles and professional networks are continuously updated with beneficial relationships via existing social media apps like LinkedIn, BranchOut and Facebook. ProPath is an ideal dashboarding tool for career advancement.
