Sharing Office – A Concept For Future Of Work
The sharing office proves the ideal workplace environment for collaboration, creativity, and idea-sharing.
In order to bring to life PSFK’s Future of Work report, PSFK Labs challenged creative agencies from around the world to generate product and service concepts that leverage the trends identified within the report. This concept was created by We Are Your Studio.
Looking at current workspace trends and the needs of future generations, we designed a workspace that we felt would provide the ideal environmment for a most productive and engaged social workforce. Our designs integrate technology into the space in ways which enhance the sharing, connectivity and the user-experience.
With more Generation Y and the not-so-distant Generation D workers moving into the workplace, sharing content and being able to give realtime opinions on work as it’s progressing will be a natural evolution of the ‘open’ workplace. In ‘The Sharing Office,’ a series of devices connect the workforce and enable people to share their thoughts realtime.
The Central Hub at the heart of the office is where all of this data is pooled and becomes an open resource for the entire staff. A large dome streams the work going on around the building as it’s progressing. Gesture technology means that staff can flick through images and text, like flicking through a portfolio while socialising or working communally in the central conversation pit.
Ideas Clouds capture work in progress to a screen above desks giving teams a better idea of how their projects are developing. These Ideas Clouds also show outwardly to other staff what is going on, so if anyone has an idea as they’re passing, they can swipe up some info from a touchscreen, or start a conversation and share their knowledge. Sharing like this means ideas are evolved more rapidly and also gives a better feeling of connectedness to the workforce where ideas are never lost.
The Sharing Office is an innovative solution to the new social workforce wanting to blend work, play, communication and expression but also wanting to work together and enjoy the process. This encouraged ideas-pooling also builds much more pride in staff as they feel more responsible for innovation in their company and they naturally become stronger brand advocates increasing the work place profile to the outside world.
