At this year’s CES, Fulton Innovation reveals its inductive charging technology called eCoupling. The technology would essentially allow someone to charge their mobile phone by simply placing it on the back of a tablet or another device that has enabled Qi.

Qi (pronounced “chee”) is the “international standard wireless charging” developed by Fulton Innovation. As explained on its website:

Already, the Qi Standard is paving the way for interoperability among devices worldwide. Soon, wirelessly powered devices everywhere will all speak the same language, creating a true universal standard for wireless power.

Fulton Innovation gave a demonstration of the bi-directional wireless charging platform at CES, and impressed the crowd with just how easy it is to charge a device. A Samsung tablet and phone equipped with Qi technology is used to give the demonstration. As the phone was placed on the back of the tablet, it immediately began charging.
