ICEHOTEL is located in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden, and as the name suggests, it’s completely made out of ice. The hotel is currently home to 40 various artists from around the world, where each suite is occupied by an individual artist or group. The building isn’t just home to artists and designers, but it’s also a large-scale art project itself.
The special architecture of the building is created using 1,000 tons of pure ice, and 30,000 cubic meters of frozen water harvested from the Torne River. Each room is unique and has been carefully thought out with aesthetic design in mind. The guest rooms have carved textured walls, and amazing ice sculptures.
The exhibit will remain open until Spring when the sun melts away the structure and artworks. On its website, ICEHOTEL explains that:
The art is created with imagination and hard work, only to melt away under the unforgiving rays of the sun come springtime. All that remains are our impressions, our memories – and photographs.
