Revive, a new hydration clinic in Chicago, offers to reduce your hangover symptoms in under an hour. The spa, which also treats people with jet lag, athletes who’ve had a tough workout, and those suffering from colds and flu, uses a combination of IV fluids, vitamins, and medication.
A hangover often ruins an entire day as one suffers from a combination of dehydration, nausea, head and neck pain, lethargy, and dysphoria. Inappropriate home remedies, such as coffee, over-the-counter painkillers, high in sugar sports drinks, antacids, and sometimes “hair of the dog” are actually counter-productive to the healing process and can even be dangerous.
Revive provides intravenous fluids for rehydration and selected additives to enable the body to repair itself. Appropriate medications, vitamins, or anti-oxidants are added to the base IV fluid to reduce and eliminate the pain associated with a hangover. The clinic, which was opened by Dr. Jack Dybis in December, offers to alleviate people’s symptoms during a process that takes less than an hour and costs $99.
