During the Oscars, Samsung ran a series of TV commercials (one featuring Tim Burton) centered around the fictional game ‘Unicorn Apocalypse‘. After a developer contest to create the game, with the winner receiving a reward of $25,000, it has been released in the Google Play store.
The mobile game takes advantage of Samsung’s commercial airplay to increase interest and is a nice extension to the commercial, even if the reviews have been very poor. ‘Unicorn Apocalypse’, developed by Liquid Gameworks, lets gamers play as a lone unicorn, the harbinger of the apocalypse, as it wreaks havoc on the last of humanity. The game description reads:
Race across urban rooftops avoiding the deadly unicorn traps and soldiers that the Anti Unicorn Force (AUF) has deployed. Beyond the foot soldiers exist enemies both cunning and strong, so use your magic dash and rainbow lasers to blast through your enemies, avoid your own death, and prolong the Unicorn Apocalypse!
