H&P Architects have created a concept design for Vietnam’s Pavilion at Expo 2015 in Milan that consists of a structure covered with rice fields. The ‘Pavilion of Dream Terraces’ competition entry is a symbolic reference to Vietnam’s cultural history that boasts a simple installation and a low cost.
The structure’s steel frames are covered with salvaged wood, and there are steps up the sides of the pavilion for people to climb and walk between the areas where rice can be planted. These help the microclimate, provide food and create a striking image both outside and in.
