This new technology may no longer be relegated to the realm of enthusiasts as they hit retail shelves around the country.
As 3D printing continues to find more and more ways to be useful and garners greater interest amongst the general population – it was only a matter of time before they became available through a big name shopping outlet.
Staples will be offering the 3D Systems Cube 3D Printer – a printer that is manufactured by one of the oldest and most trusted 3D manufacturers on the market. The printer itself can use two types of plastic: ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) or PLA (polylactic acid).
The chain store will have the printers available in-store from June but you can go to their website and get your hands on a printer from this very moment. Previously only available directly from the 3D printer manufacturers or specialised hobby stores, it may come as a disappointed to those who wanted to keep 3D printers “exclusive.”
You can pick up one of the printers for it’s normal retail price of $1,299 and apart from the printer itself, the store will also be offering various accessories such as cartridges ($49.99) and replacement glass printing surfaces ($99).
