Lacoste L!ve has launched an exclusive capsule collection of polos and t-shirts with Japanese manga team Tezuka Productions, inspired by the characters in Osamu Tezuka’s fabled comics. Tezuka was a Japanese cartoonist, manga artist, animator, producer and doctor, and is considered to be the Japanese equivalent of Walt Disney.

Tezuka Productions tapped designer Hiroaki Ohya to realize the collaboration with Lacoste L!ve, who hand-picked his favorite scenes from six original manga works. They represent humans’ dreams of flight, transformation and communicating with animals and nature. For the Spring/Summer 2013 capsule collection, which hit stores this month, Ohya-san chose The Mysterious Underground Man, Astro Boy, and Black Jack.

Astro Boy is a science fiction manga featuring a humanoid robot named Atom, who has miraculous strength of 100,000 horsepower.

Black Jack is a medical drama with the unlicensed but gifted surgeon, Black Jack, who is endowed with excellent surgical techniques and saves seriously ill patients. Click through to see designs from the exclusive manga collection:
