Wattio SmartHome 360º is an Indigogo project that aims to help users save energy in their homes. The full system includes electrical items and components that are easy to setup around the home, and where important information and settings can be viewed and controlled in real-time via the web-based app, or on phones and tablets. According to its website, it claims to completely eliminate standby power usage.
The Wattio bundle includes a smart gateway, in-home display, battery-powered thermostat, energy monitor, and a smart plug. The plug, referred to as ‘The Pod,’ is what gets plugged into wall socket and gives the user full remote control of the device plugged into it. For example, the user can use his/her phone to turn the device on and on, program working hours, and even estimate energy consumption levels.
The project managed to exceed its financial goal of $90,000 through crowdfunding. The complete system will retail for around $219 and it’s estimated to be delivered sometime in August, 2013.
