Sun-powered stations ensure that your devices never run out of juice.
A year ago, PSFK covered a story on how Pensa and Goal Zero made a preleminary, hopeful attempt at bringing New Yorkers phone-charging stations in public spaces. These stations were sustainably powered by solar energy in a park in Brooklyn.
Now, Pensa and Goal Zero in partnership with AT&T, are opening nine charging stations in the city starting today, with its first station in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park. Each station can successfully charge six phones in full sunshine. The project has kicked into full gear after Superstom Sandy left many people without any resources to charge their phones.
The charging units are expected to pop up this summer in parks like Coney Island, Riverside Park, Randall’s Island, Governor’s Island and Union Square Park. You can also find them at AT&T sponsored events like Tribeca Film festival and Summer Stage at Central Park.
