The ‘Nature’s Playground’ campaign by The Click Design Consultants for The National Trust in England pokes fun at typically stuffy historical sites with signs that encourage touching and having a good time.
Designed to entice visitors to explore and enjoy themselves, the signs look like warnings or instructions at first glance but in fact include phrases like “Please DO sit here!” and “Keep on the grass.”
The signs, which were sent out to National Trust properties across the east of England, make them more approachable and less conservative. They were then photographed for use in posters, literature and ads, helping entice visitors to enjoy the properties differently.
The brightly colored signs also feature a hashtag (#NaturesPlayground) to encourage visitors to share their experiences and post photos of their visit on social media. Click through to see images of the instructional signs:
