The Porsche Design Tower in Miami houses luxury oceanfront condos with glass elevators that take residents and their cars up to their homes. The 60-story tower enables residents to be transported up to their doorstep and keep their car parked within their apartment’s “Sky Garage.”
First, the car is scanned and placed onto a turntable. When the engine is switched off, the turntable aligns with a glass elevator and a robotic arm scoops the car up and puts it inside. When the elevator reaches the correct floor, the arm parks the car and leaves the resident almost at their front door. The 45-90 second ride can be used to enjoy the panoramic ocean views and watch the in-elevator TV.
There is also the option of taking a passenger-only lift, while a valet takes the car onto the elevator. In most apartments a glass window allows residents to view their vehicle inside the Sky Garage.
Luxury Launches reports that a specialized Car Concierge will assist with regular maintenance, tire rotations, washing, and other services. The tower offers a restaurant and bar, sunset terrace, spa, fitness center, entertainment room, and a pool.
The ground-breaking ceremony took place last month and the building is slated to be completed by 2016. The apartments are priced between $4.5 and $25 million, with over 50% already under contract. Click through to see pictures of the Porsche Design Tower:
