Paper Map Lets You Zoom Into Neighborhoods [Pics]
Map² is a pocket-sized document with specially designed folds that allow you to easily view specific areas in greater detail.
Map² is a beautifully designed, convenient, pocket-sized paper map with a unique feature. In addition to providing a simplistic and elegant overview of a city, it further unfolds, like a cartographical cootie catcher, to reveal even more nuanced views of individual areas.
The clever design neatly condenses four maps into a single, easy to manage, 4″ x 4″ square. Containing an overview map, a transportation map, and two street maps, the map has a patented folding technique that allows you to unfold a particular section to reveal an enlarged view of that same area without having to unfold unnecessary parts of an entire map. More importantly, it eliminates the need to subsequently refold the entire map.
Even when the map is folded to its minimum size, the zoomed in areas can still be instantly unfolded and refolded for quick clarification.
Currently producing maps of London and Berlin, the company hopes to roll out additional cities in the near future. They’re currently running a Kickstarter campaign to fund their next release, a zoomable map of New York City.
