Jarring View Of A Post-Katrina Amusement Park

Jarring View Of A Post-Katrina Amusement Park

Christopher Dame's photo series shows the abandoned amusement park destruction in the wake of the hurricane.

Leah Gonzalez

Six Flags in New Orleans has been abandoned since the area was hit by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The whole place is covered in litter, graffiti, and some areas are still submerged under water.

The amusement park is generally off limits to the pubic, but some photographers like Christopher Dame were able to get in and take photos of the dirt-covered and rusty rides, the broken buildings with graffiti-covered walls, the forgotten bumper cars, and more.

You can find the series on Dame’s photo site.
