L Degrees predicts the temperature inside the L Train platforms in New York.

The painful experience of waiting at the L train 8th Avenue stop prompted Julian Cole to create something that can tell commuters which subway platforms are particularly hot on a particular day.

Together with Kristian Henschel, Cole created L Degrees. L Degrees takes localized data from Yahoo Weather, adds a weighting system for the temperature in the L train platforms and predicts the temperature at the platforms on a daily basis.

According to his website, Cole came up with the system for predicting the temperature by recording the level at different platforms and the above ground temperature. He was able to come up with a ‘fairly accurate’ system that’s now being used by L Degrees.
