The Axor brand collaborates with different designers in search of alternative visions of the bathroom as a living space. A recent collaboration with Japanese designer Oki Sato of Nendo resulted in the Axor WaterDream, a reading lamp that doubles as a shower.

Shower Reimagined As A Reading Lamp

The hybrid design combines two household objects and brings together activities that usually occur in separate rooms. Freshome reports that the Axor WaterDream reinterprets the way these are usually perceived and Sato commented:

My aim was to combine what is most archetypal about the living space, the lighting, with water, so as to give the shower an enhanced sensuous dimension in a way we have not yet seen before. The result is something that is not just a shower, nor just a lamp, but a hybrid – a magic trick with light and water that is available day after day.
