Inflatable Hotel Room Hoists Guests Up Into The Air

The Curtis hotel commissioned artist Alex Schweder to create a mobile room held up by a van-mounted scissor lift.

The Curtis hotel in Denver commissioned artist Alex Schweder to create a mobile hotel room hoisted up by a scissor lift on top of a van. The Huffington Post reports that it was developed for the Bieenial of the Americas festival of arts, culture and ideas.

‘The Hotel Rehearsal’ room is 5ft x 7ft and has an inflatable bed, couch, curtains and a small bathroom with a sink, shower and toilet. The room is elevated 22 ft in the air and its walls and ceiling are made out of a transparent plastic so guests can enjoy the view. A one-night stay is now being offered for $50,000 as part of a special package.

The aluminum and inflated vinyl structure is being driven to parking lots around town until August 23rd. The ‘Lloyd in the Sky with Diamonds’ package includes one night in the room, as well as two iPod Nanos, a party for 100 people at the Four Square Ballroom, a personal shopper, a set of Swarovski binoculars, an iPad mini complete with a StarGazer app, and a Tiffany diamond pendant and earring set.
