Announced earlier this year at SXSW, MakerBot’s Digitizer will be available to buy next week. The desktop 3D scanner is an easy and fast way for people to create 3D models from scanned objects.

Great for people without any design skills or 3D modeling experience, the whole process has been optimized to work with MakerBot’s Replicator Desktop 3D printers.

MakerBot’s 3D Scanner Will Be Released Next Week

The simple yet sophisticated software creates 3D models with just two clicks. A 3D digital design file can be produced in minutes, and unique scans can be uploaded directly to Thingiverse.

The files can also be modified and improved in third-party 3D modeling programs, like Autodesk’s free software MeshMixer. Be sure to check out makerbot.com/digitizer next week when the MakerBot Digitizer goes on sale.
