Creating detailed and complex 3D-printable designs is no longer something that only the experts or experienced designers can do.

Leading 3D printing solutions company 3D Systems has just released a sculpting software that aims to make the design process easy even for the untrained or inexperienced designers.

Cubify-Sculpt=4

Cubify Sculpt is a virtual sculpting tool that lets users create 3D printable models from a virtual clay base. Users start the design process by selecting an initial shape like a box, cylinder or sphere, and then use the mouse and different push, pull, emboss and paintbrush tools to mold their design from the original shape. It’s like a digital version of the popular kids’ toy Play-Doh.

The sculpting tool is based on 3D Systems’  volumetric CAD engine so it’s capable of creating complex designs that can be exported to a 3D printer. The tool is also capable of using different file formats like STL, OBJ, and PLY. Anything designed with Cubify Sculpt is 3D print-ready.

3D Systems plans to integrate the tool with its other Cubify products to make 3D printing and design simple and accessible to everyone.

Cubify Sculpt is available for $129 at the Cubify website and comes with a 14-day free trial period.
