Ai Weiwei Invites 100 Architects To Design Homes In Inner Mongolia
Team of 100 international designers comes together to help the famous artist build houses in the remote region.
Ai Weiwei teamed up with the Swiss architectural firm Herzog and de Meuron for a collaborative project titled “Ordos 100 Models,” displayed at the Galleria Continua, Le Moulin in Boissy-le-Châtel, France.
“Ordos 100 Models” is the work of one hundred architects from 27 different countries who were invited by Ai Weiwei to design homes for a specific region of Inner Mongolia, each with a living space of 1,000 square meters. The finished project combines miniature replicas of each villa and the surrounding features, all set on a pinewood foundation.
The exhibition also features the maquette, prints of the design phase, a film of “Ordos 100”, and the three on-site inspections for the architectural designs, which have not been realized in Inner Mongolia.
“Ordos 100 model” will be featured at the Galleria Continua until September 29.
