Bottle caps that are redesigned to put a smile on a child's face while building a cleaner environment.

Designers Shengpeng Zhao, Chen Xu, Shun Feng, and Chao Gao from the Lanzhou University of Technology in China wanted to give kids in rural areas and under-developed nations something new to play with. Understanding that children not only need food and water, the designers wanted to find a sustainable way to entertain kids as well.

The Building Cap concept is a new way to model the non-reusable bottle caps we are used to, changing it to allow for more artistic expressions amongst kids.

The concept is fairly simple. Dovetail edges are molded around the edge of the bottle cap, which allows the caps to be interlinked like building blocks. Winning the 2013 IF Design Award, the Building Cap is not just a toy, it is an innovative way to reuse simple objects around us.
