Founded by entrepreneur Erik Torenberg, Detroit-based startup Rapt.fm is a platform that hosts live video rap competitions, giving aspiring rappers a place to potentially get discovered. Rapt.fm’s mission is to bring people together through rap and it offers a community for artists and fans to network.
Rapping on Rapt.fm is like video-chatting on Skype, but with a beat playing in the background and an audience watching in real-time. Users from all over the world can rap, watch, and vote for who they like best.
Recently launching in public beta, the platform is hosting a rap contest on YouTube with Tommy Boy Records, with the prize of a record contract for the winning rapper. You can check out some freestyle rapping on Rapt.fm in the video below:
