Apple is debuting a new architectural design for its retail outlets and has unveiled its newest store at a mall in Stanford, California. The open retail space has glass walls on three sides with a stone interior and an overhanging stainless steel roof.
This allows for more natural light and an open environment, enabling passersby to easily see into the store. ifo Apple Store reports that the retail floor has twelve product display tables, and openings in the stone wall lead to another retail space with more tables, accessories and Genius Bar.
The Stanford store will open on September 7th, replacing an existing mini-store in the same mall. This design will also be used at upcoming stores in Portland and Aix-en-Provence, which are currently under construction. Click through to see photos of the new Apple store design:
