Live Twitter Auction Helps Save America’s Drive-In Theaters

Honda is hosting the event and proceeds will go directly to protect this part of US cultural history.

Honda is hosting the first ever live Twitter Vine auction on September 12th, with proceeds going towards saving more drive-in theaters as part of Project Drive-In. Renowned film critic Leonard Maltin will be the auctioneer for the one-day event and a Vine video will be posted on Honda’s Twitter account showing off the items available for auction.

Users can bid on an item by tweeting the title, a bid price and the #DriveInAuction hashtag. The highest bid at the close of the auction wins. Honda will tweet the winning bidder who will then be directed to a payment page on the Project Drive-In fundraising site.

Auction items include Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 plush toys, autographed poster, concept artwork and a Hollywood VIP package featuring tickets to the movie premiere and a tour of the Sony Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation studio lots.

There will also be Disneyland park hopper tickets, Aquarium of the Pacific tickets, a basketball and license plate signed by Maroon 5, and a private suite experience at the Paramore concert at the Honda Center on October 19th including tickets and catering for 16 people.
