Intricately printed liquid metal made its way onto a classic Ford Gran Torino, fusing the modern world of today with the cultured history of the past. Artist Ioan Florea transformed the iconic “muscle car” into a 3D piece of art by covering the car in a new metal surface with printed appliques. The re-imaged antique titled “Tactile Histories” is currently on display at the Glove Factory in downtown Carbondale.
Florea enjoys using lightweight materials, and is inspired by the world of nanotechnology. He customizes his own 3D image fused resin and pigment transfer of shapes on canvas. In addition, Florea formulates his own liquid metal paint to ensure the utmost quality.
