Hevo Power – short for Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Optimization – is a wireless charging station for electric cars that will be installed into manholes around New York City. Green Parking Zones will provide drivers with plug-in hybrid or electric cars a more cost efficient way of charging. Eliminating the need of an EV power cord, Hevo Power will charge your vehicle as soon as you park it over the designated zones.
The power station is either installed on the street or embedded in the pavement, and transmits energy via a vehicle receiver that is connected to the battery. Also, there is a smartphone app that notifies drivers of the charge amount, as well as where to park their vehicle. Depending on the application, the current Hevo model can transmit more than 10kW.
With potential partnerships in queue, Hevo is looking to expand their technology to power a larger fleet of vehicles. Pepsico, Walgreens, and City Harvest have all shown interest, and are excited to see how Hevo can enhance commercial logistics.
