Japanese manufacturer Nishimura Precision Co. has developed a pair of eyeglasses with a body that can fold down completely flat, saving on space and making the glasses less likely to break when folded.
Paperglass eyeglasses are made from very thin wire and have stems that curve upwards to enable them to clear the lenses when folded in. This design enables the glasses to be completely flat when folded. The glasses are so flat that they can slip easily into a flat case and be even used as a bookmark.
The product was one of the Good Design Best 100 in 2013.
