Earlier last year, Chad Russell and Charles Butkus introduced AdTrap, which is a small hardware device that plugs between your router and your modem to intercept online advertisements before they reach your computer or other electronic devices.
There is a good handful of successful browser plug-ins that block online advertisements, however these software based programs do not solve the entire problem because they are limited to either the individual device or specific browser. This is where AdTrap differs, instead of “hiding” ads, the device completely disconnects it from the base of your network. It acts like an external firewall.
After the initial $200,000 funding allocated from Kickstarter backers, the company has finally started shipping the first models of AdTrap. Russell and Butkus’ are offering the device for only $139.
Here is the promo video to give you a better sense of what AdTrap is all about.
