Hosted at the Tokyo Opera City Tower, the “Rhizomatiks Inspired By Perfume” exhibit is turning visitors into their own GIF-form souvenirs.

Rhizomatiks are the creative and engineering force behind techno-pop phenomenon Perfume, organising everything from the bands’ stage production to technical support. The team has come together with a completely different idea and projection; to transform art lovers into GIFs via an interactive exhibition.

The moving images are created by using 3D scanners, animation stylisation and data visualisation turning each visitor into their own angular GIF that they can happily take home with them. The idea is an interesting take on the gallery souvenir and as you’d expect the exhibit was extremely popular with the GIF-loving generation. Who wouldn’t want an animated version of themselves?
