To fill vacant tenant spaces, New York MTA is offering short-term leases that gives businesses a chance to open pop-up stores in Union Square Station while the agency looks for long-term tenants.
Experimenting with a new business strategy , global clothing store UNIQLO launched their pop-up in the Union Square subway station this past Thursday. While UNIQLO is known for a wide range of basic and comfortable apparels, this pop-up store will feature mostly cold weather clothing to better prepare New Yorkers for winter. As an incentive for purchases, the company is offering a pre-loaded Metrocard with jackets and parkas.
UNIQLO is the first brand to work with MTA’s new business project, and is helping MTA improve their real-estate image. This is a good way for businesses to reach a bigger group of consumers, considering more young people are using the subway system more than ever before.
