The A4 Carpet by Dutch designers We Make Carpets is made out of 20,000 sheets of A4 printer paper folded origami-style.

For the project, Marci Nolte, Stijn van deer Vleuten and Bob Waardenburg of We Make Carpets covered 500 square meters of an old industrial hall at De Fabriek in Eindhoven.

The paper carpet isn’t meant to be used in a home or stepped on. The project explores how materials can be used in different ways to minimize waste.

We Make Carpets combines the tradition of weaving carpets with contemporary materials to create a modern interpretation of the craft and at the same time make a statement about current issues.

The A4 Carpet was presented during Dutch Design Week 2013.
