Twitter’s latest microsite, #YearOnTwitter, gives you a chance to relive all the highs and lows that have happened in 2013. Apart from all of the viral sensations, and trending topics that took over the internet during the year, there are plenty of breaking news stories as well. More than anything, the site demonstrates Twitter’s ability to break the latest news, often before the major news outlets.

You can choose from different categories on the site such as #news, #entertainment, and #sports, then work your way through a timeline of the year. There are also “golden tweets,” messages that received the most retweets, which include Glee star Lea Michele’s first public comment about the loss of her co-star and partner Cory Monteith, and the untimely death of actor Paul Walker in November.

The best thing to do would be dive right in and explore the site.
