Color-Coded Highway Reveals Urban Traffic Patterns [Video]

Filmmaker and photographer Cy Kuckenbaker created a time collapse video that shows cars reorganized by color as they drive along State Route 163 in San Diego.

Kuckenbaker took a four-minute video of the busy highway from the Washington Street Bridge. He then created his time collapse video by removing the time element between the moving cars and then grouping them by color. The resulting video makes it look as if same-colored cars are driving as groups.

The video shows the city’s transportation patterns as well as the volume of cars on the streets.
