Wearable Sculptures Blur The Line Between Human And Cyborg [Pics]

London-based architect and designer Daniel Widrig created a collection of 3D-printed wearable sculptures, one of which looks like a futuristic exoskeleton.

The collection, called Kinesis, feature sculptures that were created using 3D scanning technology. The collection explores the potential in creating customized and 3D-printed wearable products that fit and merge perfectly with the body of the wearer.

Widrig created his pieces by analyzing the 3D models and the points of the body where the products would be worn. In a post on Dezeen, Widrig stated that his pieces are designed to exaggerate those parts of the body.

The collection includes pieces that are worn around the neck. One of them appears like “an inflated skin wrapping around the model’s breast and neck area.” Another piece reflects the expansion and contraction of the human musculature system.

The 3D-printed sculptures were made by Materialise, a Belgian 3D printing specialist.

Widrig is presenting the collection at Design Miami this week.
