Dank Architects recreated before and after scenes of a raging party to make one of their minimalist apartments look more personable in photos.

When the architects from French studio Dank Architectes redesigned a residential garden apartment in Lyon, they wanted to take some architectural photos to show off the work they had done to transform the traditional apartment into a loft space. Rather than take ordinary photos of a clean, staged house, the architects decided to make the apartment look as if it had just hosted a big party.

Featured on their portfolio website, the photos of the house show champagne bottles and passed out people. Dank architect Steven Guigoz told Dezeen:

Our idea was to try to make the architectural photos more alive by making the place look a little messier, contrasting with the minimalist aspects of the architecture we designed.

Houses are meant to be lived in, and Dank’s approach shows that even the most minimalist design can become homey when injected with some humour.
