Vending Machine Dispenses Piping-Hot Burritos

Available at a Los Angeles gas station and using 100% natural ingredients, this is the newest way to snack.

Burritos are already one of the most convenient foods available, but make them available from a vending machine and you take things to a whole new level. The world’s first “Burrito Box” vending machine has popped up at a gas station in Los Angeles and offers five different burritos, all for the princely sum of $3.

The machine is easy to use and lets you select which of the flavors you want, including Chorizo Sausage, Roasted Potato, Uncured Bacon, Free-Range Chicken and Shredded Beef, from a touch-screen menu. The company’s website says the ingredients are 100% natural, with no hormones or antibiotics involved. That includes the Daisy sour cream you can add for 50 cents, the Tabasco for 65 cents, and Wholly Guacamole for 75 cents.

Once a selection has been made, the machine shows you all the nutrition and ingredient information, according to Los Angeles Times reporter Jenn Harris, who tested out the Burrito Box this week. Then you just have to pay for your burrito and wait one minute while the machine heats it up.

There’s currently only one Burrito Box in operation, with a second Los Angeles location planned for January 18th. Plenty of people in other cities have made their desire for a Burrito Box clear on Facebook, which could make the vending machine a huge success over the next few months and years.
