With all the advancements and improvements in high-tech gear for cyclists, the classic handlebar bell is long overdue for a facelift. That’s why a team of young designers have made it their mission to create an instrument that complements today’s technologies. MyBell is the world’s first digital bicycle companion, a device that gives users the ability to chime their sound of choice.
Packing a serious punch, this customizable bike horn can emit sounds of up to 85 decibels. It makes use of 3D-print technology and innovative digital techniques. Designed to withstand harsh outdoor weather, the sturdy plastic shell of the bell perfectly houses MyBell’s built-in custom circuit board.
Already developing their fourth prototype, the team is planning to include an internal trigger for the bell, as well as a LED bike light to alert pedestrians to bikers’ presence. After making it into the final round of New York’s Next Top Makers, Mybell is gearing up for a very hopeful crowdfunding campaign, which will go live in the fall – stay tuned!
