Lincoln Partners With Dwell And Shinola On Popup Exhibitions [Detroit 2014]
Two separate galleries showcase contemporary craftsmanship and environmentally friendly products.
For several years now, the Lincoln auto show stand has featured an ongoing collection of artwork from emerging artists. For the 2014 North American International Auto Show, the automaker invited Detroit-based Shinola and Dwell Media to create two popup exhibitions focusing on design and craftsmanship and relating each gallery to a Lincoln vehicle sharing complimentary characteristics.

In just three years, Shinola have evolved from a small handcrafted watch maker working out of an art school, to a luxury manufacturing company producing high quality, hand made bicycles, leather goods and journals. Classic design and built to last are core characteristics of their products. Each product is handmade exclusively in the USA.

“Rethinking Green” was the theme connecting the MKZ Hybird to Dwell’s curated collection of environmentally responsible products sourced from the Dwell Store. The centerpiece was a container plant wall, ‘A Glimpse of Spring’ filled with normally out-of-season plants native to Michigan. Products on display ranged from wooden toys to air purifiers were arranged in categories including nature, future, sustainability, entertaining and sanctuary. The collection aimed to represent product innovation and lasting value.
