Opening this month, the Royal Palms Shuffleboard is set to be Brooklyn’s first shuffleboard league and venue, complete with kitschy decor.
If you think of shuffleboards, you think of palm trees and retirement homes, grandpas in tropical shirts pushing pucks with broom-like sticks. But now, the first shuffleboard venue in New York is opening up in Brooklyn, aspiring to make the geriatric game cool like the now ubiquitous ping-pong and bowling.
The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club seeks to transport its guest to the land of Florida, and comes replete with lawn furniture, potted plants, coconut cocktails and a rotating band of food trucks, all housed with the 17,000 sq-ft former warehouse.
