Buy the latest runway fashion before anyone else gets a chance.
Moda Operandi already allows shoppers to place pre-orders for runway fashions items only a few days after they make their debut appearance, but the company now has its own mobile app, which takes a leaf out of Tinder’s book. The app allows you to browse through runway images and like or dismiss a particular look. When one of the looks that made your cut is available for sale on Moda, you’ll be the first to know thanks to in-app alerts and push notifications.
“We wanted to make the experience addictive. We were thinking about different ways of liking looks and dismissing looks, which a lot of fashion apps do. But it’s different because it’s actionable,” says Elizabeth Cordry, director of product at Moda Operandi.
Another feature of the app is that if you happen to like one of the same runway looks as founder Lauren Santo Domingo, or Indre Rockefeller, the manager of the site’s trunk shows, you will be informed that it’s a “Moda-approved outfit.” The hope is that this little ego boost will make the app more attractive than others which offer a similar service.
As reported by Fashionista, the company hasn’t seen any price resistance on mobile when compared with desktop use, which means customers are shopping the same brands and price points across all devices. That means there’s a big opportunity on mobile, and apart from the runway pre-orders, the company wants to try and integrate its in-season boutique into the same app as well.
