KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced a new service that allows customers to make seat reservations, book or rebook flights, request excess baggage tags, and pay for all of them using their Twitter or Facebook accounts.
The airlines is no stranger to using social media to offer enhanced services to their customers. In 2012, the company used Twitter to help their customers find the cheapest fares, but, before this new payment method was introduced, customers paid for flights and other services outside social media channels.
The process of the new payment method is simple. KLM sends a link to the customer in a private message on Twitter or Facebook. The link takes the customer to a page where he or she can select a preferred payment method and complete the transaction. The KLM social media service agent then receives a confirmation of the payment. The customer also receives a confirmation of the transaction.
This new method of payment is just another one of the company’s innovative campaigns to use social media to make flight travel easy and as enjoyable as possible for everyone.
