Each week we bring you the most popular and interesting posts of the past five days. Here is the current selection to give you topics to explore and share over the weekend.

Regenerative Candle Forms New One As It Melts

The Rekindle candlestick holder from Benjamin Shine on the other hand, takes care of all the hard work for you, and only requires that you insert a new wick every time your candle is “reborn.” While this particular candle holder will set the mood, or provide you with a cheap light source for a very long time, it won’t last forever. Every time the candle burns all the way through, it will actually get a little bit smaller, but there’s nothing that can be done about that because it’s a fundamental chemical reaction.

Origami Door Unfolds Open and Close With A Single Touch [Video]

Austrian company Klemens Torggler has designed a door that gently slides open and close without running along tracks. The Evolution Door was designed based on the concept of rotating squares. A gentle nudge or push triggers the door to slowly slide sideways towards the opposite side of the wall. The technical design of the door allows for new and creative applications of this standard element of a room or structure.

Sony Sells Their Waterproof MP3 Player Inside A Bottle Of Water

For the release of their new underwater-friendly MP3 players, Sony worked with ad agency DraftFCB to design an innovative product packaging that can attract and retain the attention of their targeted consumers. They call it the Bottled Walkman. Sony sold the headsets immersed in a bottle of water, which instantly demonstrated its waterproof function. To introduce the product to their intended audience, Sony sold the players in special vending machines at gyms and pools, making purchases as easy as buying a bottle of water.

Temporary Tattoos Come To Life With A 3D Layer [Video]

Tattoos Alive has created temporary tattoos that work just like any other, until you pull out your smartphone and scan then with an app. Once you’ve done that, the tattoo comes to life, and even manages to pull off a little dance for your entertainment. The official release date for the transfers is April 15th, when you can get a set of six tattoos of a single character for $1.99 or a box of four tattoos of all six characters each for $4.99.
