Virgin America Helps Travelers Network With LinkedIn Connections Mid-Air
Virgin's Here on Biz app connects travelers with others on their specific flight, as well as passengers on other Virgin crafts.

With their tech-savvy business travelers in mind, Virgin America is launching an in-flight social network powered by the Here On Biz app, connecting people with their LinkedIn contacts on their flights or at the airport. This program is part of the airline’s goal to reinvent the flying experience for their customers, which has included a social meeting app that connects travelers with other romantically-available passengers on the same flight.
To take full advantage of this free networking opportunity, passengers can download the Here On Biz app before take-off. The airline’s fleetwide Gogo In-flight Wifi and location-tracking API lets users connect with guests on their own flight, guests on other Virgin American flights in the air, or travelers at their destination.
“The Here On Biz app is another great example of how companies are leveraging Gogo’s in-flight platform to create engaging experiences for passengers in the air,” said Ash ElDifrawi, Gogo’s Chief Commercial Officer. “We continue to empower cutting edge digital companies to develop applications that can be incorporated into the platform that will help inform, engage and entertain travelers. Virgin America has been at the forefront of offering these services to its guests.”
Aside from this business incentive, Virgin America hopes that travelers will be a part of their new Twitter campaign and use it to share personal business flying experiences using the hashtag #PlanePitch. Participants will have a chance to win a year of Elevate Gold status, six business class flights and an annual Gogo Pass. For more information about this contest, click here.
