Music can be a great catalyst for creativity, but it’s often hard to know specifically which song inspired what creation. Zac Posen doesn’t want there to be any doubt, which is why he’s teamed up with Spotify to accompany each look in his newest collection with the song(s) that served as inspiration.
The collaboration for his ZAC Zac Posen Fall/Winter 2014 collection will also give fans a chance to see part of the designer’s creative process. If you head over to Posen’s Spotify profile, you can find a series of two- or three-song playlists that coordinate with what Posen was feeling when he designed each piece. The looks are also displayed next to the playlist where the cover art would normally be, each of which links to a larger photo on Instagram.
Some artists on the playlists include Ke$ha, Liza Minelli, Vivaldi, Genevieve Waite and Barbra Streisand. While some of them definitely correspond to Posen’s pieces, there are others that came to life with the assistance of the music, not because of it.
Even though this is the first time Spotify has collaborated with a designer, it won’t be the last. Posen’s new eyewear line and Truly Zac Posen for David’s Bridal will also be going up on the music platform, with a good chance that other designers could follow based on what kind of success the project experiences.
